Prep for basement walls part 2

Building the forms for the concrete part of the basement stem walls.  We used 3/4" plywood sheets, but some of the walls were higher than the standard size of the plywood, so Brett had to add an extension at the top.

Brett braced the plywood in several places so it wouldn't blow out when the stem walls were poured.  There was also rebar on the outside to add stability.

You can see the holes we drilled.  The snap ties go through the holes and hold the two pieces of plywood together like an ice-cream sandwich (with the concrete in the middle as the ice cream)!  You can also see how an extra section was added to the top of the plywood.

A little bird decided that the cliff made when we excavated was the perfect place to build a nest and raise her family.  Adrien and I were worried that the baby birds wouldn't be big to fly away before we were ready to backfill, but everything worked out fine, at least we THINK it did!

You can see the mother bird in this picture.  Can anybody ID her?
