Moving materials over to the building site.
The forms are going up. You can see how the foundation is stepped because of variation in the soil depth down to solid rock.
Using rebar to brace the forms. Afterwards the rebar was used in the slab for the basement, so nothing was wasted.
There's teeny tiny Adrien up in the corner. Honey, I shrunk the kid!
Taking no chances on having a blowout. Even with this much bracing, there were still some tense moments at the second pour.
You can see how the concrete will be sandwiched between the two layers of plywood. The rebar will go inside on top of the snap ties.
Still getting ready. There are a lot of details that have to be taken care of. The boards are there to allow access to move the concrete through the forms and to smooth it out. It's a long way down to the bottom of the trench.
Conor didn't have a lot of construction experience prior to this summer, but now he's an expert on building foundations!
